Description

  • The fluorescent dye calcein acetoxymethylester (calcein AM) can be used with Corning FluoroBlok Cell Permeable Supports and Insert Systems to label cells when performing analyses such as tumor cell invasion, endothelial cell migration, endothelial cell tubulogenesis, and other cell-based assays.

The cell viability indicator calcein AM is a non-fluorescent, cell permeant compound that is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterases into the fluorescent anion calcein. Corning Calcein AM Fluorescent Dye can be used to fluorescently pre- and post-label viable cells to perform kinetic and endpoint experiments, respectively. Note: cells are known to tolerate different fluorescent dyes for varying amounts of time in culture. While cells labeled with calcein AM should be exposed to the dye for less than eight hours, Corning DiIC12(3) can be used for several days in culture without adversely affecting cells.

  • The fluorescent dyeDiIC12(3) can be used with Corning FluoroBlok Cell Permeable Supports and Insert Systems to label cells when performing analyses such as tumor cell invasion, endothelial cell migration, endothelial cell tubulogenesis, and other cell-based assays.

DiIC12(3) is a lipophilic neuronal tracer that is commonly used for labeling neuronal projections as well as lipid bilayers in other cell types. Because DiIC12(3) exhibits low toxicity and minimal effects on cell viability, this dye can be used to pre-label cells for a variety of applications. Corning DiIC12(3) Fluorescent Dye can be used to fluorescently label viable cells for assays such as tumor cell invasion or endothelial cell migration. Moreover, cells are known to tolerate different fluorescent dyes for varying amounts of time in culture. While cells labeled with calcein AM should be exposed to the dye for less than eight hours, DiIC12(3) can be used for several days in culture without adversely affecting cells.
